Enniskerry “Keep it Clean” Campaign
We have a plan to keep our village spick and span by asking you to adopt a piece of road to keep clean, but to do the work at a time that suits you!
The Tidy Towns has been struggling for years to attract new members but to no avail. This is our last attempt to get people motivated and on the streets, to help create the spotless village we deserve, especially since we now have the third best garden in the world on our doorstep! This will undoubtedly attract even more visitors but what a shame that they must pass through a dirty and unkempt village to get to their destination.
We all have busy lives which mean that the nights put aside for Tidy Towns might not suit you. Coupled with that is the dreaded weather which invariably is unkind on said night also. With this in mind we have devised a plan by asking you to adopt a piece of roadside and maintain it at your leisure………..
It can be adjacent to your home or business or outside the home of an elderly neighbour. There might be a section of roadside that you pass daily and are appalled at the litter strewn there. We don’t mind where it is as long as your commitment to that section is continuous, throughout the year. We will put a large map in the window of the old “Collectables” shop, to help you decide on the piece of road that you wish to claim and then ask you to email mariepower555@gmail.com with your chosen section. Marie will then mark the map so no piece is adopted twice and off you go! If you want help to begin with and to get it under control, then just ask and we will be happy to oblige.
If that does not suit you, then perhaps you can commit a few hours once a month to our Blitz Saturday. Once a month we are on “Blitz the Village” duty which will last from 11-4. Come for an hour or stay for five, the choice is yours. You will know when the Saturday is near when you see our “Blitz the Village” banner on the railings in the village centre. The time will always be the same and we will always meet at the Town Clock.
So let’s “KEEP IT CLEAN” together……………………………and make a better village for all of us to enjoy!
Regards
Gill & Marie
