Enhancing Enniskerry – send us your ideas!
Have you got great ideas for community projects that would benefit Enniskerry, its community or its visitors?
If you have, we want to hear from you.
Enniskerry Forum plans to apply for LEADER funding to carry out a feasibility study. The purpose of the study is to explore, assess and prioritise ideas that would benefit the whole community.
Enniskerry Forum will then look to implement the most feasible and promising of these in consultation with the community and relevant bodies such as Wicklow County Council and The County Wicklow Partnership.
What kind of projects?
To match LEADER requirements under Community Development Projects, ideas should fit under the following headings:
– Encouragement of tourism activities
– Basic services for the rural economy and population
– Village renewal and development
– Upgrading of local heritage
A good example of the kind of community project that has recently received LEADER funding and been highly successful is the Tinahely Railway Walk. With great community support and enthusiasm, the project involved the construction of 5km of walking trail, which is now enjoyed by local and visiting walkers of all age groups. It also led to the initiation of the Tinahely Trailwalking Festival.
As well as gathering ideas for this initiative, Enniskerry Forum is also keen to get a clear picture of what types of projects generally are important to the community.
So please send us your ideas and tell us why you think the project(s) would benefit Enniskerry.
Deadline for project ideas: 31st May 2012
Where to send your project ideas: just send an email message to enniskerryforum@gmail.com.
Thank you – we look forward to hearing from you!
