Can you code? Could you be a technical mentor for CoderDojo?

Yes?….

Then CoderDojo Enniskerry NEEDS YOU!
CoderDojo Enniskerry CoderDojo Enniskerry will be a fun place where young people, between roughly 7 and 17, can go to explore technology together and get advice and support from skilled mentors. Enniskerry kids will get the chance to learn how to make apps, websites, games, play with robotics and more! Share your coding knowledge and inspire the next generation of young coders at your local CoderDojo in Enniskerry.
 Your Tasks
  • Mentoring children in 1 of HTML/CSS, Scratch, Apps, Python or Raspberry Pi
  • Set-up & take down of equipments, tables, chair, network etc
  • Prepared to commit to the cycle of sessions so that kids get used to the Mentors involved and there’s a consistency of mentoring standards
Your Time Commitment
  • Once a week / twice a month (details TBC) – starting soon
  • Likely to be Saturday afternoons, 2.30 pm – 4pm (half an hour set-up / take-down either side)
  • Follow the academic term time (i.e. breaks for mid-terms & holidays), or 6 week cycles of sessions (details TBC)

Qualities Required

 Any combination of the following (minimum one knowledge area):HTML | Scratch | Making Apps | Python | Raspberry Pi

If you have experience of another area, but none of the above, please let us know what that is.

  • Child-centred approach to the coding. Within CoderDojo there is a focus on developing creativity, a sense of community, peer learning skills, mentoring and self led learning with an emphasis on openness and showing how coding can be a force for positive change.
  • You must be able to get on with both parents and other volunteers alike and of course with kids of differing ages from all backgrounds
  • Patient, encouraging, committed to the CoderDojo Enniskerry’s community ethos
Training & Induction The Recruitment Committee will meet you; 2 character references are obtained, Garda Vetting (if over 16), ID check, Induction & Trial Period, Child Protection Training. Parental Consent required for U18s.
