Enniskerry Water Update
Water supplies have been temporarily restored in some parts of Enniskerry this morning. However, ongoing supply disruptions are expected to continue.
As of today, Irish Water has taken over responsibility for water supplies, although they have subcontracted operational responsbility for Vartry Reservoir (which supplies Enniskerry) to Dublin City Council (who had responsibility until now in any event). All Enniskerry residents experiencing problems should ring Irish Water on 1890 278 278 or email customerservice@water.ie and register their complaint as all calls will be logged and will help to have Enniskerry prioritised.
Two of our local councillors, John Ryan and Christopher Fox, have helped Enniskerry Forum to elevate this matter to priority status with Irish Water. They called for a suspension of Standing Orders in Wicklow Co. Co. last night so that the water issue could be discussed as an urgent priority. Councillors Ryan and Fox put forward a proposal that was supported by all other councillors forcing the County Manager to arrange an urgent meeting with the CEO of Irish Water so that resources are in place solve both the short and longer term issues with water supply in Wicklow. We understand that this meeting, also involving Dublin City Council, will take place shortly.
Enniskerry Forum will continue to post any updates it receives on www.landoverclub.com. We have also notified Irish Water of the urgency of the matter on behalf of the Enniskerry community and we will continue to do what we can to maintain pressure on all parties involved to resolve the issue.
