N11/M11 Bus Priority Interim Scheme
The following information relates to the “Emerging Preferred Option” in respect of the proposed N11/M11 Bus Priority Interim Scheme.
The N11M11 BPIS Emerging Preferred Option
The emerging preferred option that is currently on display ( www.n11m11bpsi.ie ) includes options for closing all intermediate junctions/accesses which would otherwise present conflict points that impede bus priority. Closing these accesses will maximise the provision and continuity of bus priority. Between junction 6 and 8 this includes options that inlcude for closure of the Silverbridge access, Dargle Lane, Herbert Road, R117 Enniskerry Road, Glencormick/Avoca and Woodlands Academy.
R117 Enniskerry Road
The following drawing shows links from the Enniskerry Road to both J6 and J7. The Green line shows the proposed access to Fassaroe Junction and the blue I’d the proposed access to Kilcroney Junction. The link to junction 6 is preferred by the design team. The link to junction 7 is shown as an alternative option for consideration.
The project team would like to hear public views regarding the preference of the link to J6 or J7 or for both. Please email N11m11@arup.com or write to Wicklow County Council project liason office, County Buildings, Whitegates Wicklow A67 FW96.
Herbert Road / Junction 7 Upgrade
An upgrade of the roundabouts at Junction 7 is included in the preferred option. This is proposed to cater for additional traffic that is predicted to reroute as a result of the closure of the Herbert Road access and also to mitigate queuing that currently occurs and which would impede bus priority. This situation with queuing at J7 was particularly evident during the temporary closure of Herbert Road during 2022.
