Message from Bray Tidy Towns
We would like to thank you all for your contributions over the past months, whether they have been financial, time or simply sharing on facebook the work we have been doing at the Station Area in Bray. It started with a clean-up of the Cash and Carry site last year. We are continuing to work with the owners to ensure the site is maintained and given a further facelift.
This year we have been focusing on the actual station grounds. Working with Irish Rail, we have cleared most of the hedgerows facing on to the station forecourt, you have to admit it is looking much better. Over the coming 3 weeks we plan to clear the beds, prepare the soil and put down bedding plants and lavander along the railings.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
There is an enormous amount of work to achieve the goal, but we have done it be fore and can do it again! Any help is welcome, even if you can only make an hour – every bit helps. Our program of works are set out below:
Saturday 22nd April – 10:30am -1pm
- Bedding plants to corner near station entrance
- Clearing out beds from ivy
- Tilling soil
- Painting planter boxes
- Litter pick
Saturday 29th April – 10:30am -1pm
- Preparing planter boxes for planting
- Preparing beds with manure
- Litter pick
- Putting up bird boxes
Saturday 6th May – 10:30am -1pm
- Planting planter boxes
- Planting beds with lavender
- General tidy-up
- Litter pick
There is a very special visitor coming to Bray Station in August (we will keep you in suspense) and the station needs to look up to scratch. Irish rail's maintenance department will be undertaking works on the buildings and surrounding areas. Lets have the place looking great before the flood of summer visitors. The station is an important entry point to our town and deserves a facelift.
We look forward to seeing you at any of the above dates. If you are unable to attend, but have a group that is in a position to provide man-hours, our project manager is able to work with them during office hours, please contact us directly.
