Changes to 44 bus route & timetable
Following recent speculation that the 44 bus route might be withdrawn, Dublin Bus has advised Enniskerry Forum that, despite significantly reduced usage on the route in recent years, there are no plans for its withdrawal at present. However, Dublin Bus has advised Enniskerry Forum that changes to the 44 bus route and timetable are expected. According to the Project Manager of Dublin Bus’s Network Direct, the following are the key changes:
1) The “Ballyogan Loop” will be discontinued. Now that the Luas runs along Ballyogan Road, it is no longer considered necessary for the 44 to divert down and back up Ballogan. This will significantly improve journey times to Dundrum and the city centre.
2) A more “customer friendly” timetable will be implemented. While there will be a slight reduction in the number of 44 buses, they will operate on a more consistent timetable which on Monday to Friday (from Enniskerry) is likely to be as follows – 6.45am, 7.15am, 8.15am, 9.30am and every hour (on the half-hour) afterwards. An hourly service will operate at weekends.
Dublin Bus has applied to the National Transport Authority for permission to introduce these changes which are expected to be commence by mid-November. As the timetable outlined above is only indicative, please check the Dublin Bus website here when planning your journey.
