Our next meeting is on Wednesday 7th October at 8pm in the Parochial Hall.  Paul Fitters of Teagasc will give an illustrated talk on Composting . Admission for non members is €5 all welcome.

Kilmacanogue and District Horseshow

The 36th annual Kilmacanogue Horse Show will take place on Saturday 25th July at Monastery Cross, Enniskerry, commencing at 9.30 am.

Throughout the day there will be classes and entertainment for everyone. Horse and Pony in-hand and Riding classes, Side Saddle, Clydesdale, Connemara and Minature Horse classes, Show Jumping for Riding Club members, Driving and Donkey classes. This year the Bray Hunt is generously sponsoring a Broodmare class, open to landowners whose land the Bray hunt crosses (details from John Crowley on 087 2654767). The very popular Happy Hunter ring, which caters mainly for local children who will be busy now preparing their ponies for the Most Obedient Pony prize, Style and Appearance, Fancy Dress, Pairs and for the beginners, a Lead Rein class.

Alongside the Equestrian persuits, there will be Sheep judging classes, Photography competitions for adults and children. Don’t forget to bring your dog and enter the Dog Show, starting at 3pm. There will be a variety of stalls.

All proceeds from the show will be distributed between local charities, including Newcourt School, Wicklow Hospice, Charabanc, (a caring resource for the elderly in the Enniskerry area) and Festine Lente.

Plain Chant Performance by Schola Gregoriana

Schola Gregoriana Maynooth are appearing in St Patrick’s Church, Enniskerry  on Sunday 15th March 2009 at 7.00 pm,  to give a plain chant performance (Offices of St. Patrick and St. Brigid and Early Irish Polyphony).  Entrance is free (voluntary contributions accepted at the door).

Founded in 2001, the group consists of 8-10 female voices conducted by Giovanna Feeley and includes Enniskerry Gospel Choir leader Siobhan Kennedy-Perri.  The group recently released their CD ‘Saints and Scholars‘ in October 2008, recorded in St. Patrick’s Chapel, Maynooth.

Their repertoire of chants for St. Patrick includes rare and new material, edited and transcribed by Dr. Ann Buckley, of  NUI Maynooth as part of an international project researching the music of Irish saints in manuscripts from Ireland and continental Europe.

All are welcome.
