The Wicklow Way Challenge is an annual event organised by the Parents Association of St Mary’s and St Gerard’s National School, Enniskerry. The 2011 Challenge took place on Saturday 2nd April and over ninety parents, pupils an staff took part.
The Challenge was to complete a 26km stretch of the Wicklow Way stating at Oldbridge, just outside Roundwood, and finishing in the village of Enniskerry. Each class entered a team and so did the staff. The Challenge winners on the day were the Junior Infants team in a time of 3 hours, 24 minutes. They were crowned the Kings and Queens of the Wicklow Way at a lively reception held in the Powerscourt Arms Country House Hotel.
The event was a great success bringing people together and introducing them to the wonderful walks on our doorstep. We also managed to raise over €3,000 for the school.
