Hi Richard

I just wanted to thank you for posting the wonderful walks, we are new to the area very much enjoyed Lovers Leap and the circuit of Killegar. Your directions were spot on, and looking forward to doing more walk soon.

Thanks & all the best.

Did this walk on Sunday 18th Oct 2009 with a group of Cub Scouts and met the now infamous cigar smoker.

I had 25 kids 8-11 yrs of age with me with a group of parents and a few other siblings.

Like the previous post, he had blocked the route with a Quad bike and the kids were in "my opinion" practically attacked by the "hound" which was not on a lead and was constantly jumping at the kids barking.

I was told by said person that I was in breach of a "High Court" order which I knew nothing about and would have to turn back as I was on Private Land and did not have permission to be there.

As far as I was aware from Albert's book this was an old right of way and I could not bring a group of kids along a main road back to the bus stop.

It upset some of the smaller kids I had with me and I had some very angry parents.

If this guy had a problem then I don't see why he couldn't have approached me in a civilized manner without the need for such intimidatory behaviour.

albert:

we did walk six on jan 6 (not for the first time) and not long after we took that hidden path after coming off the wicklow way (the one that takes you back - via the red gate - to your starting point) we were approached by a man on a quad bike. though
polite, he was emphatic that we were on private land and asked us not walk the path again. he had with him what can only be described as a hound and it was an unsettling experience. i now realise (having consulted your book) that the path is public after all. well spoken, cigar smoking and persuasive (the hound was anyway) i have no intention of going back. has this guy got a habit of doing this sort of thing? as the path is public, is he breaking a law if he pretends its not?
