Schola Gregoriana Maynooth are appearing in St Patrick’s Church, Enniskerry on Sunday 15th March 2009 at 7.00 pm, to give a plain chant performance (Offices of St. Patrick and St. Brigid and Early Irish Polyphony). Entrance is free (voluntary contributions accepted at the door).
Founded in 2001, the group consists of 8-10 female voices conducted by Giovanna Feeley and includes Enniskerry Gospel Choir leader Siobhan Kennedy-Perri. The group recently released their CD ‘Saints and Scholars‘ in October 2008, recorded in St. Patrick’s Chapel, Maynooth.
Their repertoire of chants for St. Patrick includes rare and new material, edited and transcribed by Dr. Ann Buckley, of NUI Maynooth as part of an international project researching the music of Irish saints in manuscripts from Ireland and continental Europe.

We would like to wish all our members a very happy and prosperous new year. This year our program begins with an illustrated talk by Joseph McMahon from the Scalp Nurseries. The subject of the talk is ‘What to grow in Enniskerry gardens’. After a very enjoyable summer season, when we visited many beautiful and interesting gardens in the area. We return to our indoor activities this month. On Wednesday 3rd October we have an illustrated talk on the Garden Pond by Dick Mallet. This is our annual Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland lecture and should be a very informative evening. The meeting is at 8p.m. in the Parochial Hall in Enniskerry, all welcome.

The annual Kilmacanogue Horse Show takes place on Saturday 28th July at 9.30 a.m.at Monastery Cross, Enniskerry.
Throughout the day there will be show jumping for riding club members, horse and pony riding and in-hand classes, driving, clydesdale and minature horse classes and the children’s “Happy Hunter” ring will include lead rein, pairs, style and appearance, most obedient pony and fancy dress classes.
There will be donkey and sheep judging classes, stalls with plants and vegetables for sale, art and photography competitions (with VERY generous prizes). The dog show commences at 3 p.m. All proceeds from the show are donated to local charities, so come along, enter competitions and support your friends!
