Music around the fire

richard February 24th, 2007

Enniskerry is to revive the old tradition of informal music in the pub around the log fire.

“Peggy Murphy’s” pub, in the center of the village, [the Old Enniskerry Inn] would like to have people in to play and sing all kinds of folk music, from Bela Fleck (bluegrass) to Barny McKenna (ballads), from Mary black (contemp irish) to Planxty (trad).

If you like Simon and Garfunkle (usa modern folk) or Niel Young (folk rock ballads), David Gray (english folk) or Doris Day (movie themes), then you will enjoy and evening of playing in an informal atmosphere around a log fire with friends. Classical Violin, traditional fiddle, guitar, bongos, banjos, accordian, cello… etc – all very welcome.

The first session is:

Wednesday March 7th : 9 pm …. every forthnight after that

If you are a beginner musician/singer, then you are especially welcome. The focus is not on musicianship; it’s on having fun and letting your hair down for the night.
